Dirty Water Campaign
- Hits: 1
We are a friendly group of ordinary people – please feel free to drop us a line or come along to one of our meetings to get to know us and ask any questions you might have.
We understand that everyone has other commitments and responsibilities and you are free to come to meetings, events or actions as often, or as little, as you like.
No! We thrive on diversity. XR local groups are made up from people of all ages and from all walks of life and we need people in lots of different roles, as well as those who are reluctant law breakers: from trainers and speakers, to helping with social media or admin and looking after wellbeing.
We are strictly non-violent and abide by the Extinction Rebellion Principles and Values.
At the moment we are meeting in Dorking fortnightly and alternate between in-person meetings and Zoom.
However, we work very closely with XR Reigate & Redhill and when there is no Wednesday meeting, some of us go over to the Monday Climate Cafe in Reigate (7.30-9pm at The Yard, Reigate Station, Holmesdale Road).
Yes, many of us do and we usually arrange to go up as a group, or meet up with people from other local groups once we’re there.
There are also people who prefer to only take part in local events and that is fine.

Our actions are pushing us ever closer to 1.5 °C of global warming and we are wiping out species at an unprecedented rate.
The more we interfere with Earth’s natural cycles, the more we put the survival of our own species at risk with hotter and more extreme conditions leading to wildfires, floods, crop failures and further deadly pandemics.
Political leaders and industries have known about these threats for decades but have failed to act accordingly. Our own government is now ignoring scientific advice and widespread public support for a green recovery from the coronavirus crisis.
Due to this lack of urgency in dealing with the climate crisis we are now just years away from reaching the 1.5 °C threshold and on track, according to the latest scientific advice, for a terrifying 4 °C of warming.
